The bay off the beach is an area of Marine Conservation popular with scuba and snorkel divers with dense seaweed which attracts a large variety of fish and crustaceans. There is a small dinghy park at the top of the beach which is used by visiting divers, anglers and dinghy sailors |

The riding stable is at the rear of the beach and the ancient church of St Werburgh stands on the cliff overlooking the bay. The village 'pub' is the Odd Wheel which provides excellent bar/restaurant meals and a very good range of local real ales. Close to the village is the Elizabethan manor of Langdon Court which has an excellent restaurant and is five minutes by car but can also be reached by walking, as well as the Mussel and Eddystone Inns which have bar/restaurant facilities. |

The 18 hole Staddon Heights Golf Club is 4 miles away with outstanding views of Plymouth Sound . For divers, the wreck of the Sycilla is approx. 16 miles by car ( 40 minutes). Parking for RIBS is available at Wembury Beach Boat park by arrangement and by sea the distance is 8 miles. The National Marine Aquarium and the Mount Batten Sailing Centre are a short distance away. Plymouth is 8 miles.
The wonderful South Hams is on the doorstep. Dartmoor starts 10 miles away and Cornwall, which can be seen across the bay, is twenty minutes by car (and the Eden Project is one hour). National Trust properties and sites of historical interest abound and the Mayflower Steps - the final departure point for the Pilgrim Fathers is on The Barbican in Plymouth. 'Sense and Sensibility' was filmed at Saltram House - just 5 miles away. Sir Francis Drake's home - Buckland Abbey - is nearby as is The Hoe where he played bowls before sailing to fight The Armada.
The ferry terminal for Brittany Ferries is 20 minutes away.
